Kota Kinabalu: Rumah Terbalik (Upside Down House)

DAY 3 (PART 2) - RUMAH TERBALIK (UPSIDE DOWN HOUSE OF BORNEO)

On our way back to the CBD from Kiulu, we passed by an unique place - Upside Down House of Borneo, in Tamparuli. It is known as Rumah Terbalik in Malay. What's so special about this place? Upside Down House of Borneo is the first of its kind in SEA (South East Asia) and also among the 5 upside-down structures in the world. It sounds really interesting, even just by its name. So we decided to drop by.

You can see the unique structure right away if you happen to pass by the road. It isn't hard to find. Took us too little effort to search for it. *try to sound like a tourist with great sense of direction. Blekzz* Why I say so? You shall continue reading as many interesting pictures are coming up!

At the registration counter. Blogger need to do some "homework" by taking picture of the logo.

We got student price! It's really good to enjoy all the privilege as a student, while you can. Don't miss any chance as it can really save you plenty of bucks. $$$

Hyperactive blogger with the tickets! We got free complimentary chocolate drink because that's part of student promotion. HAPPY!

This is the upside down house that you can see from outside. That's why I said you won't miss this place. Just need to open your eyes and search! Haha.

They have guided tour to bring us in for explanation. However, no photo is allowed inside the house. So, you gotta imagine yourself - Imagine everything in your house is upside down, from your pet, to your furniture, to your toilet bowl, to your washing machine, to your rubbish bin.

The upside down car at the "garage" beside the upside down house.

After the guided tour, you can find some other interesting "section" behind the upside down house.

Yes! Upside down toilet! They have similar one in the house too. Impressive huh. =)

And also Upside down Garden! I was amazed by all the flower pots. Soil not falling down. XD

After having a cuppa iced chocolate in the cafe, we went out to take some photos before leaving.

Back view of the house. You can try some funny pose here! They even have a guide along the corridor to teach you pose. Awww... I just like the colour combination of this photo. <3

One of the pose that you can try. Carry the house with your hands. Hehe... =D

This place opens daily from 8am to 10pm, including public holidays. Pretty amazing place, about 40 minutes drive if you come from city center.

Address: Mile 21, Jalan Telibong, Tamparuli.
Admission Fee: RM 10 (MyKad holders), RM18 (Others), RM5 (Student/Children below 12 yo), FOC (children below 3 yo)
* NO INDOOR PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWED but you can take photos outside. Not too expensive for an experience. =)
