Singapore Getaway Part 6: River Safari

Part 6

Last day of Singapore Trip

Time flies! It is the last day of our Singapore Trip. I wanted to explore more but our last stop River Safari is a little way out and required a lot of traveling time. From Clarke Quay to River Safari, we would need to take MRT and about 40 minutes of bus ride to reach the destination. Very sadly I have to reject a friend's appointment to meet up for breakfast. We checked out from 5FootWay Inn around 7.30am and started our journey to River Safari.

What's so special there??

River Safari is a river-themed zoo and aquarium in Singapore. I have been to Night Safari, Aquarium, Zoo, but never been to a River Safari. Something to explore. And..... this is where they keep the Panda - Kai Kai and Jia Jia! River Safari is located at 80, Mandai Lake Rd, Singapore.

To get there with public transport, you can take either one of the options below:
(a) Take MRT to Ang Mo Kio station and take the connecting bus No. 138
(b) Take MRT to Choa Chu Kang station and take the connecting bus No. 927
I took option (b) as it seems to be faster, in my opinion.

Let's take a quick glance at my favourite photos taken in River Safari. =) Focus on the animals ok!

The smiling crocodile. Saw its cute look and we can't stop ourselves from taking a selfie with it. ;)

The Red Panda. First time seeing it in such exposed and close distance. Get to see the zookeeper feeding red panda too. Too cute!

Panda Kai Kai.
When we entered, he seems very hungry and kept munching his food. After eating, he climbed up to the platform and took a nap. Jia Jia, on the other hand, is a shy panda. She always wander around, looking for gate to go back to her cage. She doesn't like to be displayed.

We was there pretty early on a Monday morning and hence there are not many visitors, we can spend lots of time observing panda. If it is peak period, you might be blocked by lots of human scalp instead of getting a good view of panda. Conclusion, travel at off-peak period is always a good choice. You get to enjoy more.

Can take multiple photos with panda from multiple angles. Haha!

This was taken in front of Mama Panda Kitchen, where we had our lunch. The walkway is headed to river cruise, which we missed out due to heavy rain (bad timing!)

We wanted to try the panda pau (buns) very much, or rather, we want to take photo of the buns ourselves and look at what it is made of. We ordered 2 buns (custard chocolate, they have red bean too but both of us are more interested with custard chocolate XD), a set of steamed mushroom and chicken rice (which comes with Sichuan soup and a mango pudding). The chair is also comes in panda shape! *heart melts* Food are pretty normal, but the appearance wins. Well, for food, sometimes you are happy with the taste, sometimes you are happy just with the nice appearance.

After that, we went to look at more fishes indoor.
Piranha. Looking very fierce and all of them are static. Seems like they can attack anytime.

I spent quite sometime observing this fatty. Dugong.
There are a lot of them, busy eating. They are so round! Oh, I love watching them swimming slowly in the water. Lifestyle of the fishes in the river is like countryside life, slow and peaceful. On the other hand, fishes in the sea swim faster, just like city life in human world.

After spending about 2 hours in River Safari, we were forced to leave due to time constraint. We took a bus to Ang Mo Kio station and took MRT back to Clarke Quay to pick up our bags in the hostel. Then we straightaway took another MRT and headed to airport. We reached just on time according to the boarding pass. We were quite worried and ran to the gate. And, another bad thing happened, our flight was delayed, without announcement, for about 40 minutes. Jeng Jeng Jeng...... That's how my Singapore Trip ended, with a little frustration. XD

Singapore, till we meet again. Probably when your currency drop a little. Cheers!
