Cambodia: Short Getaway to Siam Reap Part 1 (Pool and Palm Villa)

5D4N Trip to Siam Reap is too memorable. I've experienced too many FIRSTs during my trip and I'm so gonna share with my readers here. Also as my personal travel record. =)

AS - KL - Siam Reap - KL - AS in 5 days. 4 flights. Fun but tiring journey. But deep in my heart, I still can't get enough of traveling.

FIRST DAY IN SIAM REAP!!

This trip was quite a bit of up and down for me. At first, I pulled out and then joined back 3 weeks before flying. Spontaneous decision but really thankful that I went. Angkor Wat is such an amazing place. I would have regretted for my life if I didn't join in this time. We go in a group of 7, but due to an accident, 6 of us flew there first and the other guy joined in a day later after he settled his car problems.

We reached Siam Reap at about 10pm (local time). Upon arrival, we used about half an hour to get local sim card and then we proceed to our villa.

When we reached the villa, we were served with welcome drink. A very unique drink. It is a drink made of flower -- Clitoria ternatea;  a blue flower. The flower is tasteless. But the blue drink turned purple when we added some lime. Chemical reaction..... MAGIC!!

We were being served with a blue drink and limes. Then the hotel staff showed us the flower when we asked what it is made of. Special special =)

Before and after look of the drink. Nice right? Natural colouring.

We were seated at a cafe beside the pool for a short briefing by the villa staffs. According to them, there was a hailstorm the day before and hence the whole city is out of electricity. They need to use a generator to provide electricity and hence we were told not to use air-conditioner as it will use up too much power, which the generator cannot support.

Yes. No air-cond. And the weather in Siam Reap is pretty hot and humid. This is such a challenge for us. We have to accept the fact and live with it. Who ask us to be so "lucky", to arrive the day after hailstorm.
The pool looking very nice and relaxing.

Such an artistic chair.

Colourful hammock. Hammock is quite a trend in Siam Reap. You can see it everywhere, even on a Tuk Tuk, which they use it to rest.

The villa provide free tuk tuk to the city.

Tuk Tuk is the main mode of transport in Siam Reap. They charge $2 and above, depending on distance and time. Night time they usually have reason to charge higher. And please bear in mind, do bargain with Tuk Tuk driver. You might be surprise with the offer you get after bargain.

And here's the photo of the villa that we stayed for the first 3 nights.
There are 3 rooms upstairs and a room downstairs. The first night, 6 of us occupied the 3 rooms upstairs. Only when the other guy came the next day, we fully utilize the whole house.

The rooms are a little dusty, but otherwise very spacious. Only the dust and electricity kill my mood a little. The bed is comfy and they provide towels in the shape of elephant. =)

My stay here isn't too comfortable due to the heat. But I slept well. The service they provide was really good. Friendly. And wait, the owner of the villa is a very friendly Malaysian! Such a small world. =D Thanks for the stay.

Address: The Pool and Palm Villa, 137 Thmey Village, Svay Dangkum District, Siam Reap
(a little far from the famous night market and pub street. will need a tuk tuk to reach there)
