Kedah: Langkawi Part 3 -- Oriental Village, Skycab and Sky bridge

Next Stop: Oriental Village

Oriental village lies at the foothills of Mt Machincang. It is located in the Burau Bay or north-western quadrant of Langkawi. There are a lot of activity, adventure and F&B outlets. This is one of the must-visit hotspot on the island as it is anchored by Langkawi Cable Car -- another tourist attraction. Oriental village isn't equal to Langkawi Cable Car, because Cable Car is just one of the activities in oriental village. It has more activities such as Malaysia Largest 3D Museum, elephant rides and ATV trail.

At the entrance. It seems to be a very nice park to stroll around.

A lot of souvenir shops around.
The design of the buildings are really nice too. =)

We did some window shopping at the shops and then discussed to visit either 3D museum or take the cable car. In the end, we decided to split into 2 groups because some of us took the cable car before. 3D museum seems very interesting to me too but I chose to go for cable car because I never been there. As a tourist, I think I should go there at least once.

Langkawi Cable Car!

The cable car ride rises more than 709 meteres up into the 550 million year-old Mt. Machincang. It was quite a thrilling ride because the journey took about 5-10 minutes and it has 42-degree incline at some points.

Once arrive atop Machincang, the view of the surrounding areas and rock formations-- touted as "the Birthplace of the Region" -- of Mt. Machincang. The view from up there was really spectacular.

We bought ticket for RM25 each, which includes skycab, skydome and skybridge. It is the promo price for Malaysian Citizens. Quite worth a ride, except the skydome and skybridge. Skydome was really pointless. It just make me feel nauseous. Skybridge has beautiful view but the journey there was really torturing.

Us in the skycab.
photo taken by the couple tourist who is in the same gondola. Feeling grateful.

View from the top station. So breathtaking. =)

With the spectacular view. =D

And the cable car. =) They are colourful and pretty.
There're VIP gondola too (with more expensive tickets)

Skybridge

It is the longest free span and curved bridge in the world. It was completed in year 2004. It was built on top of the Machincang mountain. The bridge is suspended from a 82 meters high single pylon, hangs at about 100 meters above ground and it can accommodates up to 250 people at a time.

Kedah: Langkawi Trip Part 2 -- Telaga Harbour Park and Perdana Quay

So continue from the last post, we proceed to Telaga Harbour Park to stroll after our photoshoot session at Pantai Cenang.

Telaga Harbour is a gateway and destination for many yachts plying the region. It is the home base to yachts of various sizes and it makes the region a very beautiful place for tourism. Looking at the yachts, I have a dream -- I want to have one yacht to sail around. =D

With the yachts, under the hot sun. =)

Personally, I like this photo. It has a sense of calmness. (self-praise XD)

Then... we decided to try out the first branch of The Loaf @ Perdana Quay. It is also along the harbour and hence it gives customers a great view. High tea while looking at the sea. So relaxing!

The Loaf. You can choose outdoor or indoor seating.
At 1pm, we all chose indoor seating as the weather is just too hot. But.... On that day, there is air conditioning problem indoor. Still hot. >.<

I ordered Matcha Ampan because it looks quite appealing. Cold dessert at hot weather.

My matcha Ampan -- it has matcha cream and red bean filling.
To me, it is too sweet and the matcha taste isn't strong enough. Not nice.

Kedah: Langkawi Trip Part 1 -- Arrival at Jetty Kuah and Pantai Cenang

Part 1 of Langkawi trip!
In this post, I'll be talking about my visit to Pantai Cenang.

Arrival at Jetty, Kuah

We booked 2 Myvis for RM80 each, 1.5 days. I have no idea whether it is consider expensive or not. But it seems a little pricey if compared to the car I booked during my Kota Kinabalu trip. But whatever, we have no other choice because every stall is offering the same price. >.<

After lunch at a hawker place, we proceeded to Pantai Cenang for the beach! Finally, beach time after a year. Hooray!!!

Pantai Cenang is the most developed western coastal area in the whole of Malaysia. Sounds cool. But I saw more photos of Tanjung Rhu which seems nicer but I couldn't manage to pay a visit there. So, no comment. Pantai Cenang looks good to me. =) There's lots of watersports to do there, so it is a bit crowded. I prefer to have a quiet beach.

Yeah! Finally! Beach... Sea... Sun... =D

Although we were there in the afternoon, around 12pm, I still feel like it is so heavenly beautiful.

Happy me! With weird attire on beach.
Want to cover up most part of the body because I don't want to get too tanned. LOL...

One of my favourite photo. =D

Kedah: Langkawi Trip Preview

Yoohoo!! This would be the most updated post EVER in year 2015. =P

I'm back from Langkawi, with tanned skin and quite a bit of chocolates. Finally an island getaway after working for almost 10 months. The main purpose of this langkawi trip is to volunteer at World Kidney Day on 11th April. And hence, we went there a day earlier to tour around the island.

It has been a very long time since I last stepped on this island. The weather was really hot but luckily it did rain for a while, at the right timing. We weren't wet at all. Thankful!

The must-visit Eagle Square (Dataran Lang)

Pretty view at Perdana Quay.

View from sky cable platform. Breathtaking.

Will update about my langkawi trip from tomorrow onwards. Stay tuned! (Gonna pay my sleep debt now. Zzzzzz.....)

Kedah: Blackwood Coffee & Chocolate

After such a long while, finally Blackwood Coffee & Chocolate opens in Alor Setar. Its opening has been a few months and so far I've visited 3-4 times. Before Blackwood opens in Alor Setar, they have branch at Sungai Petani, which I passed by once and always wanted to try. Cake seems good.

During my first visit, I tried their coffee and pasta. Coffee was great but pasta is just so-so. I ordered a salmon carbonara pasta and it turned out very salty (to me). Hmm.... Noted that I shouldn't order pasta the next time, but their other dishes still attracts me a lot. It is one of the very few cafe that serves sandwiches, burgers, and breakfast menu.

Second visit, I went there for desserts. Ordered a slice of carrot cake that time and found that it is just alright. Not too fascinating. To be honest, the price is a little expensive as compared to other places.

Third visit, will be the one that I'll be showing in this post. A random idea for brunch before weekend shift at 12pm. I woke up at 10.30am and went out of the house at 10.45am. Drove and reached there at around 10.55am. Ordered food at a very fast speed and waited nervously for my food to be served. So scared that I might be late for work. I ordered a set of big breakfast and a cup of latte.

Waited for about 5 minutes and my coffee was served. Very elegant latte art.
The coffee is nice. Love the bitterness and smooth texture of the coffee.

At around 11.25am, my food was served. Finally!

Kedah: Fried Jawa Mee @ Simpang Kuala

#throwback

It has been a while since I last update this blog. Work has been a little busy recently due to logbooks submission. @_@ Bad time management. One more hell week and everything will be back to normal. Soon... Soon... I'll make this blog more happening, just like last time. =)

So today, I shall write an overdue post. This post is a continuation from last one. After having my rojak under the tree, I decided to satisfy my craving for fried jawa mee. (Oh no... thinking about this stall, I feel a little emotional. I miss my friend who brought me there once. Memories.. )

This stall is located at Simpang Kuala, along Lebuhraya Sultan Abdul Halim. It is a small stall, which is quite easily missed. Need to pay attention while searching. =D The stall is just beside Tai Kuan Laksa. (Hope this guide helps!)

Fried Jawa Mee stall. Simple yet the uncle can cook really nice dish. =)
You can request for customized dish. Potato only or with cucur.

My Fried Jawa Mee. It is really nice. I love the texture of the noodle and the fluffy potato.
