Taiwan: Day 7 Dongbeijiao 东北角 & Jinguashi 金瓜石

After lunch at the scenic spot, we continue to explore the coastline, for more scenic spots.

Dongbeijiao (东北角), is like the Taiwan version of Great Ocean Road in Melbourne. It is a nice place to visit, and capture the nice views with your own eyes. Cameras do capture moments, cameras do have panorama setting, but sometimes, you still need to enjoy with your eyes. 

2 cute whales. May be a good spot for proposal. XDOne of the spot, but we did not explore. Car just slowly passed by and we could take photos.

Then, we had a little walk to The Placard Longdong Bay Cape scenic spot (龙洞湾岬观景区) for some photos. It was drizzling when we reach the parking spot. >.<

Taiwan: Day 7 Eyeglass Cave 眼镜洞 & Shifen Waterfall 十分瀑布

Back to Taiwan Trip! Sorry for going off-topic!

After choosing souvenirs, we left Shifen Sky Lantern place and headed to Shifen Waterfall (十分瀑布)! This is the most beautiful waterfall I've ever seen -- maybe not for people who travels a lot.

Before we reach Shifen Waterfall (十分瀑布), we passed by another smaller waterfall at Eyeglass Cave (眼镜洞). 

You need to cross a bridge --> a canopy --> a bit of railway --> to reach Shifen Waterfall (十分瀑布)

And here we are! We reached the entrance of the waterfall.

Let me describe a bit about this waterfall. This falls' total height is 20 meters (66 feet) and 40 meters in width, making it the broadest waterfall in Taiwan. (WOW!). It is a cascade waterfall in which the water flows in one direction and the rock is sloped in the opposite. Uncle said this is the Taiwan version of Niagara Waterfall. ~~ Some description I took from Wikipedia *as usual*

[Must Share] Sun Halo in Taiping! 太平看日晕

* Pause for Taiwan Trip post again because I spotted something interesting to share*

Spotted Sun Halo in Taiping! First time in my life seeing such phenomenon and I'm so excited! Thanks to kai gor, mom and grandma for spotting it. After receiving a call from mom, I rushed out of my house with my baby camera to take a few shots. =)

Sun halo is a rare phenomenon -- an optical phenomenon produced by ice crystals creating colored or white arcs and spots in the sky. It also represents that there will be a change of weather soon. (From Wikipedia)

日晕是日光通过云层中的冰晶时，经折射而形成的光现象环绕着太阳，成彩色。日晕的出现往往预测天气要有一定的变化。（百度百科）

If you're in Taiping now, go out of your house!  =D But don't look at the sun directly, it will hurt your eyes.

Taiwan: Day 7 Jingtong Railway Station 菁桐车站 & Shifen 十分

Day 7 ~ Uncle drove us from Yilan (宜兰) to Taipei outskirt area --> Shifen (十分), Jiufen (九份), etc... This is the day, that we visited a lot of tourist spots and really hop-on hop-off to take photos.

First stop of the day is Jingtong Railway Station (菁桐车站)

Jingtong (菁桐) is locale in Pingxi Distric (平溪县), in New Taipei City (新北市). Jingtong was originally a coal mining town and now famous for tourism. The Jingtong Railway Station (菁桐车站) was built by Japanese in the 1930s. It is ranked as one of the Top 100 Historic Century-old Buildings in Taiwan, and is one of the Taiwan's four remaining wooden stations. It is of simple, antique Japanese style and has been maintained as a tourist spot. ~~ Information from Wikipedia and Taiwan Government Website.

The railway station is still functioning and we have the chance to take a ride! Not to forget that Jingtong (菁桐) is also where "You Are the Apple of My Eye" (那些年我们一起追的女孩) was filmed. For a movie fan, like us, this is a must-visit tourist spot. =D

There are plenty of souvenir shops along the Jingtong Old Street (菁桐老街) and this is one of the cute one!

Everywhere along the Jingtong Old Street can be a good photoshoot spot. 

This is a romantic place, definitely.
You can see "bliss" (幸福) everywhere, from letter box to signages.

Taiwan: Day 6 Qingshui Cliff 清水断崖 and Jiaoxi Town 礁溪

BACK TO TAIWAN TRAVEL POST!!

In my previous post, I was talking about some tourist spots in Taroko Gorge National Park (太鲁阁国家公园). And now, I'll continue with our last stop in Taroko, which is Qingshui Cliff (清水断崖).

Qingshui Cliff (清水断崖) is a 21 km lenght of coastal cliffs averaging 800 meters above sea level. This cliff is located at the southern part of the Suhua Highway (苏花公路) that connects the counties of Yilan (宜兰) and Hualien (花莲). It is considered to be a very scenic area and is the highest coastal cliff in Taiwan. ~~ Information from Wikipedia

**Just to add-on, Suhua Highway is very famous with its scenic view and uncle driver recommended us to enjoy the view and not skipping it by taking train or bus. Really appreciate his suggestion and our decision to believe him. The scenery is absolutely stunning.

Taiwan: Day 6 Taroko Gorge National Park 太鲁阁国家公园

After a bit of walk at Lushui Trail (as mentioned in previous post), we have a chance to take a look at a long and nice footbridge. 

Before we enjoy the nice view, we found a rock that has the name of Yue Fei Pavilion (岳王亭)
