Penang: Yi Xiang Bak Kut Teh 益香绑线肉骨茶

This Bak Kut Teh Restaurant is recommended by grandma and she told us that the dishes are cute and worth trying. And so, one random evening, I dropped by and try this restaurant, with mom, grandma and aunt.

It is located at Juru Autocity, beside Sakae Sushi. Not difficult for us to look for it as Juru Autocity used to be my hangout spot. We reached there around 5pm and it may be too early for dinner ==> the restaurant is empty, except workers and us. XD

The Menu --> Pork Rib tied with string (Hmm... look interesting)

Here, the bak kut teh serves in small bowls.
You can pick your favourite ingredients, not like the traditional style where you need to tell the waiter what you don't want. (For me, I dislike intestines and fats, so usually I need to tell the waiter, don't add this, don't add that. In this restaurant, I can pick my favourite meatballs and mushrooms ONLY. XD)

While waiting for the main dish, I ordered a dessert to try. I saw many people recommending this tau fu fa on Facebook and finally I get to try --> Kulai Lou Pan Organic Tau Fu Fa.

The texture of this Tau Fu Fa is too hard and it feels like jelly. Very commercialized taste.
Still, I prefer home-made tau fu fa. RM4 for this bowl and I think it is a bit too overrated.

Penang: WeeHouse 伟亿屋。便当套餐服务

LONG WEEKEND!!!! YEAH~~~

I drove back Taiping from Alor Star right after work on Thursday. Can't be happier because Thursdays are very relaxing for me -- finish work at 3.30pm =D So this weekend, I decided to stop-by Butterworth to meet up with my babe.

The night before, I was searching nice cafe to explore in Butterworth and I found a few nice one. After scrolling for a while, a cute bento restaurant attracted me --> WeeHouse. They serve cute bento with cartoon rice, and they have Hello Kitty!! Can't resist the temptation and babe agreed to try this cafe out with me. *big smiley face*

Hence, after work, I drove to Raja Uda and searched for this cafe using Waze. It is not difficult to locate this cafe as it is just right in front of Econsave, Raja Uda.

Ta-Daa!! Beary Cute Logo. =D

I entered earlier to wait and the cafe is kinda empty. Babe hasn't reach and hence I have plenty of time to read the menu and take photos of the cafe. XD
Drink -- Not too expensive for a cute cafe like this.

They have cute cartoon bread, cartoon sandwiches, cartoon bento, etc etc...
The 3D Kitty Sandwich is so tempting but it is not filling for dinner. So I decided to keep it for next time.

They have huge teddy bears in the cafe too! One of them is even bigger than mine! OMG. Cuteness overload.

Spotted Melody too! If you have no idea what is melody, it is the pink colour rabbit on the wall. This drawing doesn't look like the "real" melody though, but well, the idea is good.

And I decided to order from the Kawaii Rice section. Of course, I picked Hello Kitty set!
Chosen Chicken set -- it didn't come with egg and soup as written in the menu, but there's fruits and drink! Oh well, drink is much nicer compared to soup, especially in such hot weather.

Kedah: Dee Dee Thai Restaurant (Alor Star)

First Dinner ALONE in Alor Star, Kedah
This is one of my FIRST in Alor Star and I have to remember it. I was thinking hard what to eat that night, after my family left and after my dinner plan was cancelled. Being adventurous at that moment, I decided to go round the town to explore. I wanted to try the famous nasi lemak or famous mee abu but I've failed searching them using my waze. *disappointed for 5 minutes*

After that, I found a Thai restaurant nearby where I was lost. So, this is it -- I ended up at Dee Dee Thai Restaurant. Since I'm so near to Thailand now, I hope this restaurant don't disappoint me.

Here's the menu!
Why goes to Thailand when hatyai is here. Hmmm.. Must be very authentic.

Ordered a coconut as I need to quench thirst really badly.

Selfie. Too bored while waiting for my food. The other customers stared at me when I take my selfie. LOL

And here it is! One of my favourite Thai food - pad Thai and my coconut. Nice portrait right. XD

Taiping-Penang One-day Food Trip

#throwback

HOW TO EAT 5 HEAVY MEALS IN A DAY???

Let me show you with my Taiping (breakfast) & Penang (6 other meals) Day Trip!!
** Specially thanks to my partner in "crime" -- Mr Jiaming.

1st Meal: Breakfast @ Taiping (Cashier Market/Larut Matang Food Court)

Taiping version Chee Cheong Fun (RM2.70 if I'm not wrong)

Fishball Fried Kuey Teow (So far I can only find this dish in Taiping) (RM3.80)

Before we had our 2nd meal, we went to hunt for some street arts as Mr JM said he hasn't seen any of them. As a very good "tour guide", of course I have to search street arts again, under the hot sun. =D (Not complaining, at all)

You can read about my Penang Street Arts post too! --> Click here for street art!

2nd meal: Teochew Cendol @ Lebuh Keng Kwee (More descriptions can be found in my previous post -- click here)

As busy as usual. We went on a Saturday and hence, crowds are expected.

Ahhh! Best dessert on a hot & sunny day!

Only selfie in Penang -- Too busy eating. Mr JM and me with our cendols.

3rd meal: Hot Bowl Nyonya Delight (White Curry Noodles)
Heard about this white curry noodles for some time and finally I try it myself! Apparently they have moved to the street beside of their original stall. It is no longer at Abu Siti Lane, but Jalan Rangoon.

We reached there around 3pm and we were very very lucky. We ordered the last bowl of white curry mee. A table of customers beside us, who came earlier, ordered and the waiter told them they already ran out of stock. Who knows we got one bowl, even we reached later. LUCKY! And thankful.

"I Eat Burgers" Event

As I mentioned and recommended previously, "I Eat Burgers" Event was held in Padang Timur, Petaling Jaya on 7th June 2014. Being spontaneous and a little crazy, I've decided to go down KL for this event!

Million thanks to people who helped me, to make my crazy plan came true. Thanks kai gor Nicky for joining me and drove me from Taiping-KL-Taiping. Thanks Big Hug Burger for helping me to reserve some coupons (Sorry for claiming less than requested.) Thanks to my friends who went together, to make this hot & sunny event, more meaningful to me.

I reached Padang Timur around 1pm and hence, it is super duper HOT!

"I Eat Burgers" event! Here I come! Thanks Friedchillies.com for organizing such special event.

Me with my baby camera! Only decent photo of mine during the event.
*credits to Nicky for the photo*

There are about 20 famous burger stalls in Klang Valley.

Claimed my coupons from Big Hug Burgers. Their queue was crazily long! When I wanted to queue for it, they ran out of stock for an hour. T___T So sad that I can't have my favourite big hug burger.

And so we decided to queue for something NEW!!
Otak Otak Burger?! Seriously??!! But I ordered Haiwaiian Chicken Burger. =P

3 types of buns available -- charcoal, wholemeal and ***** (I forgotten)

Took a photo of the stall while waiting for our burgers.
Steam N Grill from Setiawalk, Puchong.

Taiping: Cafe de Memoire 忆留轩

First try at the new cafe in Taiping town!

Darling came back from Singapore for holiday and we planned to meet up (it is our routine to meet and update each other wherever there's chance)

She wanted to try Mille crepe in Taiping and hence we decided to have a high tea date. :) New cafe in town -- Cafe de Memoire is where we want to try.

The cafe is at a corner, not too spacious but they have vintage European design. Quite comfortable.

The menu! Creative but difficult to read. I think they should provide white papers at the back of each page to make it clearer. Too difficult to read and choose.

Table number. Can see that they did put effort in decorating small stuff. Nice

Espresso Mille crepe close up!

Green tea red bean Mille crepe close up!

Taiwan: Day 8 Eslite Bookstore 诚品书店 & Ximending 西门町

After we checked out from our hostel (Holo Backpackers), we managed to leave our luggage in the hostel. Great! We can shop without carrying luggage with us.

Last few stops before we fly back to Malaysia. Awww... How I miss Taiwan now. I'm grateful that I chose the night time return flight so we have more time to spend in Taiwan. Shop Shop Shop! Eat Eat Eat. Explore Explore Explore.

First stop: Eslite Bookstore (Dunhua) (诚品敦化店)

This is the largest book store in Taiwan. Eslite Bookstores are famous with its 24-hour operation time, where people can spend their night there to read if there's any sleeping problem. A very good way to support reading culture. <3

Spotted some cute decorations. Shall I buy??

Books are arranged very nicely in the bookstore. Plenty of them.

Last photo before the worker stopped me from snapping photos. =P

2nd stop: Ximending 西门町

We decided to have lunch and dinner at Ximending, and also do some last minute shopping there.

Sai Men Tian Bu La (赛门甜不辣) -- a famous "Tian Bu La" (甜不辣) stall in Ximending (西门町)

3 of us shared a bowl and this is really good. The sauce is kinda special, love it.

Accidentally spotted my favourite S.H.E recommending this stall too!

After enjoying our "Tian Bu La"(甜不辣), we headed to try some Tainan noodles at Cheng Wei Zhen (程味珍台南意面)

After eating, we walked around and did some shopping. Bought myself a pair of slippers! Yeah! Then, I requested my friends to try out a coffee shop with me.

Oven Coffee!!
I passed by this coffee shop earlier and was attracted with the awesome coffee smell.

Little oven as decoration in Oven Coffee.

Taiwan: Day 8 Fu Hang Dou Jiang 阜杭豆漿

~ Day 8 of my 8-days Taiwan Trip 2014 ~

Woke up at 6.30am!! That's how stupid I look early in the morning.
Nerd look for Day 8. =)
Why I wake up so early? I wanted to try a famous breakfast shop in Taipei -- Fu Hang Dou Jiang (阜杭豆漿) in Huashan Market (华山市场). I read lots of reviews saying that there will be super long queue and hence I decided to wake up earlier to queue. Save time for shopping later.

At first, none of my friends are keen to try this breakfast shop. They wanted to sleep. And cleverly, my phone alarm wakes all of them up, except myself. Yes, it rang for 20 minutes and I did not hear a thing. (My ringtone is "The one that got away" cover. LOL) So, they woke up and accompanied me to queue for the breakfast shop! Yeah!! Except Jiemin, who need her beauty sleep.

Huashan Market (华山市场) isn't too far from our hostel (near Taipei Main Station 台北车站). We walked about 10 minutes to reach the market. It is labour day and hence, a public holiday. Look at the queue!!!!

Huashan Market! (华山市场)

The queue!!
The breakfast shop is at 2nd floor and from here, we haven't even reach the entrance to the staircase. Horrible!!

While queuing, we were too bored and took turn to walk around. The couple went to hunt for coffee, the remaining 3 of us spotted another famous breakfast shop --> Yong He Dou Jiang (永和豆浆). This one has a lot of branches in different areas of Taiwan, but since we found one nearby, and we have nothing to do, we decided to give it a try.

Spotted the stall!

Tyng and I walked to the shop and takeaway some food.
Was contemplating what to order as we are gonna have similar food in Fu Hang Dou Jiang (阜杭豆漿)

This shop has a much much much shorter queue than the one in Huashan Market.
We ordered a cup of hot soy milk (热豆浆), egg cakes (蛋饼) & "Hou Bing" with egg (厚饼夹蛋)

The soy milk is just simply diluted. =( *disappointing*

Ta-daa! The "Hou Bing" with egg (厚饼夹蛋). The outer layer (biscuits) is quite crunchy. But compared with the one in Fu Hang Dou Jiang (which I tried later), this one is just OK.

Egg Cake (蛋饼). This one is good! Much better than the one I had on the 2nd day.

Trying to "advertise" the egg cake (蛋饼).

Sorry, I'm hungry.
This was about 35 minutes queuing and we still yet to reach the bottom of the staircase.

After about an hour plus, we are on the staircase! And that's the entrance! FINALLY~

They even have a map to teach you how to queue.
So, queue is normal here. Very normal.
